Terrible communication whether it was by email or by phone. Old dude was dismissive to the point or being rude and though he seemed to have good knowledge about the canal, he didn't tell us anything which cant be found out easily when researching a trip like this. He wife is no better, on more than one occasion she gave us wrong information by phone. The old fella said that he would pick up the canoes from Dochgarroch and then we would get out deposit back once he got them back. After we left the canoes exactly as he asked, he said he wouldn't give the 150 deposit back because he had to pick them from Dochgarroch! The Caledonian Canal is an amazing trip to paddle, just don't rent anything from this company.

Rented a 2-person sea kayak from these people. Aside from the HORRENDOUS EMAIL COMMUNICATION throughout the booking, when we went to collect the kayak we were confronted with a cantankerous owner that went out of his way to mislead us.Having agreed prior to the trip that we would return the kayak to the shop on top of our van, on arrival, John suddenly suggested that he would be able to pick it up from Dochgarroch. No charge was mentioned, and he made out as if we'd be doing him a favour by leaving it at there; we just assumed he would need it at that end of the loch for something else.As it turned out, when I tried to claim back my deposit (after numerous emails to his wife prompting her AGAIN), John made out that he had provided the pick up as a service to us and had charged us 119 for the privilege. Not only was no mention of this made in any paperwork exchanged, but no charge was made apparent before we set off by John, whose decision was made completely spontaneously before we left without making any charge known to us.I have since requested a written breakdown of the deposit and 'extra' expenses but received no such confirmation!!!!These people are either completely inept, deceitful, or a combination of the two. Terrible experience. They are based very near Corpach lock and have decent enough equipment, but they are so incredibly disorganised. Avoid

Splendid accommodation, fantastic host / owner John. Showed us the ropes and got our group of seven well prepared as we canoed from Fort William to Inverness. Had a great time all round. Cannot recommend highly enough.

4 of us took kayak's out onto the loch. Full equipment and kayak hire was surprisingly inexpensive. The owners are friendly and offered great advice, especially given that two of our group had never been in a kayak before. Definitely a great place to go kayaking regardless of previous experience. Will definitely go again if i'm back in the area in future!

We had booked a half day canoe outing with Snowgoose mountain centre. As we arrived we were greeted by a nice lady who introduced us to a super friendly gentleman who sat us down and explained that the conditions for canoeing on the loch were less than ideal due to freak winds that weekend. He put our safety first and advised us against canoeing on the tidal Loch whilst giving us other options such as kayaking along the canal. The man was full of enthusiasm and knowledge of the local area and his concerns about the weather seemed very genuine. He also didnt make us feel uncomfortable when we turned down the kayak option (done plenty kayaking before, canoeing was what we were after) but instead gave us a tip to drive through to Mallaig and enjoy the Caribbean like white sand beaches where the weather was a lot better. Thanks to his recommendations we spent an incredible day on those beaches in scorching hot weather. Whilst gutted we couldnt canoe this time which wasnt their fault at all, we will 100% be back next time to snowgoose centre and attempt canoeing again (weather providing)!
