Snitches get stitches, or in this case, 1 star reviews. Keep it classy, Scotland.
We read a few of the reviews on this place and they appear to be either great, or really bad. Must depend on the day of the week you go maybe?? we went on the morning of New Years Eve (31/12/18). Our experience was very similar to several other bad reviews; we arrived, went inside the visitors center, there were 3 x staff all of whom totally ignored us, we spent time looking at all the very informative displays and whiskeys for sale, and eventually we left due to absolutely no service from any of the 3 staff on duty. There were only 2 other couples there also, and the staff werent looking after them either, they were just chatting amongst themselves. Really poor service levels. We left this place (and so did the other two couples) and at the next Distillery we visited (Dalwhinnie) we received perfect service from staff who actually cared, and as a result we spent 200 on whiskeys. Ben Nevis Distillery staff and management all need a kick in the arse. Why bother opening if you treat customers like this??
Great tour! Very accommodating! Our tour guide was great (forgot his name but we came last night and he was a lovely gentleman).
This place is a disaster. I can understand, that tours are booked and it is my fault, that I did not make reservation in advance, but come on... I can't even taste their whisky in their "visitor center"? What? This is what I can't understand.Staff was realy grumpy and mean. You can't even list through some books they offer. Nobody cares. Really bad experience.
This is a lovely, small distillery, with a surprising range. The Executive tour is well worth the price, it's nice to see a small distillery in detail, and the guide was knowledgeable and passionate. The tasting was a real surprise: 6 whiskys, only two of which were available to buy, that alone was worth the tour fee. The single malt was good, but the guide admitted that batch is sold out, and the current batch is not as good, but the McDonald was the real surprise. Quite peaty nose (they order a special malt recipe just for this whiskey), but the peat is quite subtle when drinking. For 32, and easy choice of best bottle of our trip.
