This chain of small hostels in Scotland are so very homie and welcoming. Couldn't check in til 5 but i was welcome to sit by the fire, charge my phone and leave my luggage in the waiting area to go out and walk around whilst waiting for reception to open. Breakfast is hearty and cheap & the kitchen area is lovely and spaceous

Great view from the hostel, good location and good facilities, but the hostel itself really need some new beds. Dorm beds are ancient, the springs have had it on some and the rest need a lot of work, did not sleep well at all. Such a shame.
I am really surprised by the high marks on this place. I have stayed in plenty of hostels all over the world, so my expectations shouldn't be too far out of line - this place is kind of a dump. The staff is really nice, but the building is in bad need of repair. The carpet everywhere is frankly filthy. The bathrooms are unpleasant and in need of ventilation, a deep cleaning and some renovation. The mattresses badly need to be replaced - you can feel every spring. Do not recommend.
It's a very good hostel. Very cozy and friendly common room. Descent dorms. Kitchen with all essential utensils as well s spices,herbs. Bathrooms are quite clean. Helpful staff.all in all great value for money.
