Beautiful museum! It's free, it's a great balance between information and actual things you can see, and it's about the place where you are and it's history. Loved it!
Interesting facts about the local area's history and natural history
Lovely welcome from the man on the door. We unfortunately had to return to the car before having a full look around the museum (ticket was running out). Highly recommend anyone visiting Fort William good here for a few hours to appreciate the rich history of the Highlands. Will return one day to finish off!
Jammed full of cool facts and objects. Came away with a solid understanding of the Jacobites and more grim English treachery and imperialist behaviour.
Everyone gets a friendly welcome at this lovely local museum. I was there to see their exhibits about the 1745 Jacobite Army and there is plenty to see. The embroidered waistcoat they have is stunning and the 'secret portrait' on a tray is fascinating. I also enjoyed the geology exhibit and learnt a lot about the mountains around Fort William. Thank you this was well worth visiting.
